Emojis Add Fun to Your Content and Can Help Your SEO
What is life without emojis these days? With a great deal of communication being digital, we need a more visual way to convey our thoughts and also add a little fun to it. Emojis bring some life to your words, whether you’re exchanging texts with your friends or using them for marketing.
We know Google to be all about what makes people happy, and since we’re all fans of emojis around here, they are beginning to take them into account when indexing search results. Now you can search Google by tweeting an emoji of it. Something like this:
When you say “pizza,” we say: https://twitter.com/Google/status/806652134456430592/photo/1
— Google (@Google) December 8, 2016
#mindblown or should we say ??
Not only is this pretty cool, it makes life so much easier because… let’s be honest, that’s what we all want. Now, when you wish to search for good pizza places nearby, you don’t even need to type in the word “pizza.” Just search for ? + “nearby,” and you’re set. <inset crowd cheering sound effects here>
So, How Does This Help in Marketing?
Ok, let’s look at this from the other side. If users are excited about this feature and are starting to search for things they want using emojis, that means that businesses or marketers should join in the emoji craze and use relevant emojis in their content. If you share that content via your Google My Business listing, you could have the edge over the competition in the area.
Emojis started as a feature for mobile devices, but there are several ways to add emojis to your content right from your laptop or desktop computer. You can search and copy them from this emoji site, or you could download the Emoji Keyboard extension for Chrome. You’ll see the Emoji Keyboard icon on the upper right-hand corner of your browser window. All you have to do is click on it, go to the Search tab, type the name of the emoji you’re looking for, click on it to copy it and then paste it into your content.
This is a new strategy, and like everything else with Google, it might take some time to determine whether or not that will have a significant impact on your SEO, but we are definitely willing to give it a try! Are you?
